Affiliate programs have become very popular because of their
potential to generate substantial, and even lavish, income in a
relatively short period with little investment cost.

    Their fame
has become so big that they are being credited as one of the
main reasons for the resurrection of the online business
community after the dotcom bubble burst.

But what are affiliate programs? Simply put, affiliate programs,
or associate programs as they are called in some circles, are
web merchants who pay other websites a commission for either of
    two things or both:

    When the affiliate website generate traffic for the web merchant;

    B. When the affiliate website helps sell a product offered by
    the web merchant.

Now, why is such a set-up with affiliate programs a lucrative
option? Well, first, all you really need is an online presence,
i.e. a website, and some selling skills. You don?t have to pay
anything at all. Second, there is no limit as to how many
affiliate programs you could join, and there is definitely no
maximum cap for how much you could earn. Third, when everything
is set, a semi-automated process will be in place that would
allow you to potentially earn even if you?re busy with other
    things.

But despite all these favorable things that can be said about
affiliate programs, not that many people have decided to take
the plunge. Their hesitation most probably stem from the
customary notion that nothing enormously profitable can be
gained with little work. Also, they may be of the belief that
affiliated programs are too complicated to understand.

They?re wrong on both counts, and you could use this to your
advantage by joining affiliate programs while the industry isn?t
that saturated yet. Hereunder is an overview on how to start a
relationship with an affiliate program, and how to make the most
out of it. It is presented a la a cookbook recipe to let you
know how easy it is to master.

THE 20 MINUTE AFFILIATE PROGRAM RECIPE

    INGREDIENTS:

1 or more web merchants who offer good commission schemes 1 or
more sellable products 1 or more websites where you could
promote your affiliates 1 web builder program (i.e. Frontpage,
Dreamweaver, or even MS Word) 1 payment method plan (i.e.
Paypal, Stormpay, etc.) some writing skills

    OPTIONAL SEASONINGS

1 software that could convert files to .pdf format 1 or more
    membership in online forums

DIRECTIONS: Find a good and reliable web merchant who offers
products you are impressed with. Remember, you cannot sell, or
re-sell to be more exact, a product you don?t believe in. You
also have to consider if the said goods are sellable. You could
determine this by conducting some research on the target market.
Here?s a tip though: anything is marketable on the web, if you
have the time, the patience, and the willingness to seek out
    potential customers.

Once you have chosen a web merchant, you have to study the terms
of the affiliate program he offers. Important things to consider
are the modes of payment and the commission percentage. Make
sure that the web merchant would be able to pay you through the
payment method you have availed of. The commission scheme must
likewise be favorable to you. Here?s another tip: for sales, do
not settle for less than 20% commission.

If all is to your satisfaction, sign up.

You will then be given a link that, when clicked pursuant to a
sale or a hit, would inform your web merchant?s system that you
are eligible for a commission. Do not lose this link, as it
would be your bread and butter for affiliate programs.

Now, all you have to do is to strategically place this link on
your website. Additionally, you must make a sales pitch to your
visitors so that they?ll consider clicking on the said link.
This can be done by discussing something noteworthy, say for
example, a how-to guide on recovering lost data, and in the body
of your article, you could suggest your readers to try a certain
product like a backup system, whose link is provided therein.
Also, you could make a sales page, which is basically a page
dedicated to the product you?re trying to resell, and which can
    be accessed from your site.

As an added option, you could also make your own e-book and
distribute it for free. The e-book itself should tackle
something important, but should contain suggestions about the
use of the product you?re reselling, with the appropriate link
that would garner for you your commission. Also, you could join
online forums that are dedicated to the market that the product
would be perfect for. Include your link in your signature. This
would expose it to the people who would view the threads you
    participated in.

Beware! Is Your System Really Turnkey?

Posted on February 13th, 2008 by and filed under Affiliate programs | No Comments »

Many newbie internet marketers fall for the deceptively simple
‘turnkey’ website or internet marketing system. Unaware, they
buy a turnkey system, perhaps even with a year of hosting, and
expect the money to come pouring in within 30 minutes.

    The hours
pass, and the days pass. They realize there was something
not included in this ‘turnkey’ system:
customers or a way to get them.

Ewen Chia recognized this problem and developed a brilliant
system for the newbie marketer: a turnkey website with what
might be called a traffic generation laboratory.
The system itself is monetized from front-end to back-end, and
the ad copy is superb, ensuring high conversion. You can href="http://inherit.secretaff.hop.clickbank.net" target="_blank">see the
    introductory ad copy
for yourself by going href="http://inherit.secretaff.hop.clickbank.net" target="_blank">here
    .

Here comes the unique part. The system includes 500 targeted
customers. BUT these customers aren’t bought by
Ewen and sent to you, leaving you in the dark as to how to get
your own customers in the future. Instead, Ewen sets YOU up in a
system with a fantastic user interface so that you can learn for
yourself how to generate your own traffic. Within minutes, you
are submitting different ads over the net at no additional cost.
Several reports are also provided which help you in
experimenting with this system as well as exploring other
available traffic generation mechanisms, a number of which are
free and simple to try. In addition, a lifetime membership site
is provided with ongoing submissions by the “Super Affiliate’s
Super Affiliate” to develop internet marketing skills. This one
amazing mentoring system has a newbie generating
traffic for his own site within minutes and then develops and
    grows his internet marketing skills.

Ewen has found a way to overcome one of the pitfalls of many
‘turnkey’ systems through his included traffic generation
    system
. This method could easily be modeled by advanced
internet marketers to develop their own turnkey systems to sell.
Most importantly, newbies need to be aware that many ‘turnkey’
systems will require additional investment and training to turn
their system into a money-maker. In order to avoid that, they
should look for a turnkey system which includes a traffic
generation system they can personally learn and use. For more

    Buying The Cow

    Inclusion Only

“IF YOU CAN GET THE MILK FOR FREE, WHY BUY THE COW?”

This rather crass question became popular in the late 1970’s,
when many couples chose to live together without the benefit of
    marriage.

Similarly, today’s affiliate marketers tend to favor
programs that offer no sign-up fee, especially when so many
include support, personalized websites, back-office marketing,
    etc.

And, too, there are programs that offer nothing more than an ID
link and a few banner ads on a login page. In fact, seemingly
sophisticated marketers are often offended by a program that
requires an up-front investment. And for good reason: the
marketer is already investing time, effort and their own
marketing system (i.e., money) to promote a given program– an
additional investment seems as if the company is taking
    advantage of them.

And some do. But not all of them.

In fact, online companies that offer affiliate programs can be
divided into roughly three different categories: Those that
offer free sign up; those that offer a free sign-up but require
some kind of back-end fee; and those that require an up-front
investment from their affiliates, as well as a back-end fee. The
reasoning behind each strategy varies from program to program
and should be considered along with the qualities of each. But,
in general terms, these are the basic strategies behind them:

FREE SIGN-UP PROGRAMS This kind of arrangement is usually
offered by those companies that offer little, if any, hands-on
support for their affiliates. They supply the link and a
login-secure page on their site with several advertising tools,
possibly with an automatic payment system, such as through
    ClickBank or Storm Pay.

These companies are generally small — possibly only one or two
people — and are hoping to capitalize on the affiliate
marketing system with little or no effort on their part.
Generally, too, they offer only one product or promotion. For
the marketer, unless volume sales are huge, they can expect to
make only a few dollars from these types of programs. But, if
all they have to do is put an affiliate link on their website to
generate sales, this is sufficient for the marketer. Also, a
very small percentage of companies in this category offer an MLM
    system.

PRO: These type of programs are a quick and easy way to cash in
on a new product or trend, provided one learns of it early.

CON: Once the market is saturated, sales reduce to the point
where even the small space the link takes up on their webpage
becomes a loss. Also, unless the company is sound — as well as
responsive to its affiliates — there is always a chance it
could fold up and disappear before the marketer ever sees any
actual cash for his or her sales.

FREE SIGN UP WITH BACK END PAYMENT PROGRAM This is the most
common type of arrangement and the companies that employ this
seem to be trying to utilize the “best of both worlds” approach.
Either the company will offer initial sign-up for free with
incentives to upgrade, or they will charge for “extras” in lieu
of sales or a downline (in the case of MLMs). Essentially, these
companies are “straddling the fence”, that is, trying to find a
way for the affiliates to cover their own expenses without
    making an “up-front” investment.

PRO: Programs like this often forego charges once a marketer
creates a certain amount of sales or take the charge out of
commissions, both of which give the marketer an incentive to
make a minimum amount of sales. The companies that use this type
of program usually offer adequate back-office support such as a
support staff to answer questions, payment schedules that are
adaptable to each marketer and regularly updated promotional
materials. They also tend to be better established than the
completely-free-program companies and often have a physical
contact address and telephone number for questions or problems.

CON: Without sales or a downline, marketers are often paying
much more in the long run than many up-front investment programs
charge. Also, in the case of companies that ARE
well-established, a new marketer may be unknowingly entering a
field that is fully saturated with other, well-established and
more experienced marketers. This makes obtaining the sales they
need especially challenging, particularly for the newer
marketer. Getting their foot in the door becomes a challenge of
    its own.

THE UP-FRONT INVESTMENT PROGRAM These are less common than in
the past but still exist — and, in fact, are still being
created — under certain, specific circumstances. The company
that opts for this arrangement may use up-front investment as a
way to “pre-qualify” its marketers, hoping to capture only the
most professional and serious-minded marketers. They usually
offer higher than average incentives and may also have a
high-demand product in which the company has already invested
heavily themselves. And, too, they may be budgeting for future
advancements and product placements, as well as creating support
teams specifically designed to help the marketing staff alone.
These companies will often include — to help off-set the
investment — many back-office features not usually offered to
marketers in other programs. And, without exception, these
    companies offer higher-than-average commissions.

PRO: Programs such as this offer more promise to actually obtain
the kind of income that has become infamous (not to mention
synonymous) with internet marketing. Also, bonuses or other
payment arrangements that allow the marketer to make higher than
average commissions. Back-end support is usually top-notch
including, in some circumstance, the marketer is treated as an
actual employee. Some even include benefit packages and other
employee-like perks. The product or product line is something in
high-demand and/or has a high rate of sales.

CON: The up-front investment obviously causes start-up marketers
to turn away. Also, competition from serious marketers who have
well-established sites makes succeeding in this field
challenging. Further requirements after joining the program that
may increase the challenge of succeeding. Due to their inherent
popularity, a short time-frame in which joining this type of
program is viable in terms of ROI.

In choosing individual programs, a marketer must decide which
type is best for them, regarding their resources, their own
marketing strategy, the overall ROI (return on Investment), and
based on their advertising campaign/budget. Many marketers
choose a mixture of these programs in order to minimize their
    investment while maximizing their return.

Oh and, by the way? In case you’re wondering, many of those
couples in the 1970’s that started out living together, ended up
getting married after all. So, what does that say about getting
    the milk for free?–mo

Boost Your Affiliate Sales Programs With Popular Trends

Posted on February 8th, 2008 by and filed under Affiliate programs | No Comments »

It doesn’t take an Einstein to realize that matching affiliate
sales programs with popular trends can be very profitable. If
you’re an affiliate marketer you should be keeping a close eye
on what people are using and buying; then matching and marketing
those trends with appropriate affiliate programs.

It can be a simple process of observation and application. Any
marketer, online or offline, can and should take advantage of
    this ready-made marketing strategy.

Spotting popular trends is relatively simple, just look around
at what your friends are using and buying. Take note of the
activities and products that’s consuming their time. Take note
of your own activities and any new gadgets that you have started
using recently. You’re probably find a few trends worth your
    time and consideration.

Checking the amount of demand for certain items during a holiday
season is another way of finding what trends and products are
hot. What products are on Santa’s list? What are children and
adults wishing for this holiday season? How many ipods, digital
cameras, x-boxes, blackberries, nanos, flat screen tvs, video
phones, laptops… were on that list?

Match up your affiliate sales programs to this list and you will
have easier and more profitable marketing campaigns. Promote the
trendy products everyone wants and your sales will go way up.
Keyword market to these popular trends and your online stats
will also take a big jump.

If you’re an online marketer you will know keeping track of the
popular keywords (what words and phrases people type into the
search engines) will give you a very good indication of what’s
hot and what’s not. It will also point out popular trends for
    you!

You can use a site like Wordtracker.com to tell you what people
are searching for on the web and in the marketplace. You can
also use a popular site like www.nichebot.com to find out how
much competition there is for each keyword or keyword phrase.

Watching for popular trends can be very profitable. New services
should also be examined, for instance, efax or receiving your
faxes from your email. Podcasting, receiving music from RSS
feeds. Videocasting, receiving videos on your ipod or video
phones are all just catching fire…

Keep an extra eye focused on RSS, with the advent of Microsoft’s
new RSS powered ‘Longhorn’ browser and operating system, the
utilization of RSS should be one trend prudent marketers should
    be watching.

What about voip phones, using the Internet as your phone system?
Online dating is another trend that’s expanding each year.
Laptops are becoming very popular, they are now outselling their
main rival the desktop PC for the first time in history.
Wireless systems such as cellular phones, satellite radios,
GPS… are other trends worth watching. They’re growing rapidly
and are quickly replacing outdated technologies.

Keeping a close watch on all types of media advertising is
another way of spotting popular trends. Savvy advertisers are
sometimes in the vant garde, pointing the way to popular trends
    and new products.

Once you have spotted the major trends and products, you can use
mega affiliate sales programs like Commission Junction,
Linkshare, Amazon or Shareasale to find products and services to
market. Finding the perfect match of an affiliate product to a
popular trend may prove very lucrative for the watchful
    affiliate marketer.

It’s one case where being trendy can help you earn a healthy
income from affiliate marketing. Timely products for timely
    profits - Carpe Diem!

Build a website in a few hours with XSitePro software. No

Posted on February 4th, 2008 by and filed under Affiliate programs | No Comments »

I’m a very sceptical person and I hate spending money. To remove
the mothballs from my wallet takes not just an insect the size
of a spider, but an animal the size of an elephant to get me to
    part with any money.

I have been online now for over 12 months trying to make a few
pence. Like everyone else I want to give up the day job. Yawn,
how many times have I heard that I hear you say. In the process,
I’ve learnt about webhosting, domains, autoresponders, marketing
and website development (to name a few).

All these cleaver ideas seem great but I get overwhelmed when I
try to put any of them into action, which idea shall I try
first, how do I actually make it work on the site ?

My main problem, it seemed, always came back to being able to
develop websites with all this clever coding on to be able to
get the results. I’ve tried buying a website from someone, but
then when I wanted to change anything it meant wading through
great amounts of source code and continually pestering the
developer, who by now was busy on another website. I’ve also
tried my hand at Dreamweaver but heck , 12 months to learn
dreamweaver or 12 months learning how to make money online.
There’s no contest really. Again, I looked at buying other site
building software such as isitebuildit, but something just
prevented me from following it up, it was that Spider in my
    wallet again !

Then I found XsitePro and to my astonishment I actually parted
with my money relatively easily. I downloaded the free manual,
read through it and it was this that persuaded me. It was
exactly what I was looking for. It’s set up very much like a
widows application where you can add files, delete them or move
them into subfolders etc. It operates as its name suggests, as a
Total Site Management package, ideal for the affiliate marketer
who wants to test out markets before developing a full website.
All my ideas now get captured in my XsitePro software. Add a
project as a new idea and then its there until you decide to
develop it. Each time you open XsitePro you can develop the idea
you want to that day. Develop a one page mini-site,
article/product pages or a full scale website. Publish when
ready and you’re suddenly an affiliate marketer ready to
    concentrate on promoting your sites.

All you need to get started with the software is to follow the
tutorial, which is provided and you can even publish a test site
without a domain and hosting of your own. You will need to
purchase a domain name and hosting to publish your own site with
the XSitePro software, but this can be achieved for less than
?20 per year. I’ve purchased several domains and set up hosting
for a few of them, but didn’t get any further for a long while,
until I found XSitePro site building software.

The only downside I can think of is that to purchase the
software you need to visit a typical in- your-face sales page,
but don’t let that put you off. The software really is good, and
being relatively new (released earlier this year), it can only
get better with free updates, as the forum members have their
input as to future improvements. The members forum is also a
great place to ask questions and there are regular “experts”
that provide their knowledge free of charge, alternatively there
is a help system available from the owners.

Get XSitePro and start promoting it with your first website now.
It’s likely to be the must have tool for all affiliate and
online marketers in the near future.

I hope you have as much success with XSitePro as I have. Wishing
you all the best. Katy from K8yA.com. If you have any comments
